Cormac McCarthy The story of The Crossing contains almost the same balance of good and evil, but there are really good questions as well. It does not obscure or think the boundary between good and selfish. Character's behavior sometimes looks impure, but in the long run these behaviors are good. In this story, Billy faces various unacceptable punishments, but they show a good attitude with a strong will and determination. He accepts what happened to him in an ordinary way, which helps to prevent the story from becoming a tragedy.

Since the late 1970's, Cormac McCarthy Society president Dianne Luce has written extensively about Cormac McCarthy. After having an excellent educational history at the Midland Institute of Technology in Columbia, South Carolina, he retired in June 2007 and became an independent scholar. She recently completed a manuscript on the history, culture and philosophical background of the work of McCarthy's Tennessee, published by the University of South Carolina Press. Wes Morgan recently retired from professor of full-time psychology at the Department of Psychology Clinical Training Program at the University of Tennessee. Since reading The Orchard Keeper for the first time in 1965, he has been interested in Cormac McCarthy's work and has written several papers on McCarthy's early life and works.

Appalachian literature intersects the larger type of Southern literature. Internationally renowned writers such as William Faulkner and Cormac McCarthy made a great contribution to American classics in the story of Appalachia. McCarthy's Suttree (1979) is a vision of a strong, cruel and strong way of living along the Tennessee River at the Appalachian Center. McCarthy's other Appalachian fiction includes The Orchard Keeper (1968) and Child of God (1973). Appalachian is also the origin of this child, and is the protagonist of McCarthy's masterpiece "Blood meridian". Cormac McCarthy was born on Rhode Island on July 20, 1933. He is the third of six children (eldest son) born by Charles Joseph and Gladys Christina McGrail McCarthy (with two brothers and three sisters). Originally named Charles (named after his father), he was renamed to Colmac after King Ireland (another source is that Maxwassee's family legally has his name equivalent to "Charles' son" Said he was responsible for changing his name to Gaelic). In 1937, when he was 4 years old, the family moved to Knoxville, and his father became a lawyer for the Tennessee Valley authorities (Legal staff 1934-67; highest attorney 1958-67) . In 1967, McCarthy moved from Knoxville to Washington DC where Charles was the lawyer of the law firm until retirement.
