The point of this paper is that individuals should be regarded as the center of media literacy - not school, parent or media industry. Furthermore, this article insists that it is not enough to justify the nature of the media and the possibility of various information harming individuals. There is a fundamental problem than education, and that is to build a greater understanding of how human thinking works. Therefore, we focus on the specificity of the exposure of the media, and require cognitive theory to explain how people filter messages and build meanings from them.

Renee Hobbs identified three frameworks for introducing learners to media literacy: writers and audience (AA), information and meaning (MM), and performance and reality (RR).
