The polluted land in the UK is now defined as follows. "Land that the authorities believe is in this state because of substances above or below the land, a serious potential water pollution causing serious or serious damage" (Environmental law 1995) Why contaminated land Is it a problem? When contaminated land poses a threat to the environment or risks land users, pollution becomes uneasy.

The contaminated land management process described in Polluted Land Report 11 (CLR II) falls into three paradigms. These are risk assessment, selection assessment, and implementation of remediation strategies. In the first phase of the survey, we decide the purpose of the survey, identify problems of arrears and improve the first conceptual venue model (CLR II) using existing information. This is accomplished by collating and evaluating desktop information, on-site reconnaissance surveys, and interviews with people who may have past information on the site or current information. In doing so we need to gather all the information to build a conceptual site model that identifies all contamination sources, pathways and receptors or potential receptors.

Today, land contamination has gained higher recognition on a global scale, and it is considered a serious challenge for present and future generations. Since many policies for sustainable development and polluted land management have recently been introduced, many countries, particularly developed countries, are implementing these policies. Nevertheless, the Nigerian government and multinational companies operating in that country are not implementing such policies. They agree with sustainable development and superior environmental management, but these are only seen as "paper talk". Nigeria does not fully implement sustainable development and environmental management
