Joyce Carol Oates started a 15-year-old girl named Conny, where her short stories "Where are you going to, where have you been?" It is on the same page. This gives the reader an opportunity to connect with Connie. Almost all teenagers spend their lives at least once compared to other brothers, so they may be compared with family and friends' children, unless they are just children. Her mother says "Do you not keep the room clean like your sister" or "How do you arrange your hair?" - What are you saying?
The story consists of two main scenes: Conny's prosperity world and all of her worlds are changing. The story begins with introducing readers to the world of Connie (hero). Let the reader enter Connie's personal idea and make her the focus of the story and heroine. The author started this story in Connie's life, and we built a familiar world. Therefore, I will feel the experience of the foundation later. Conny is a fascinating 15-year-old girl that is readily recognized by readers as a teenager's microcosm. Her world is full of rock music, friends, fun and fantasy. She went to town with her friends in the summer and met the boys while listening to music. She and her friend have similar interests in boys and pleasure, and they "listen together and smile when they gather" (Ots 655). She talks to her mother and sister about her place with the friend and her place at night.
The day Arnold's friend entered Connie Drive was the day Connie 's youthful world was invaded by cruel reality. Connie woke up from the dream that "I know most of where I am", she found that her pasture house is older than before and that many asbestos are covered. . This is just the beginning of the reality Connie faced that day. My friend came to Connie 's house and tried to tempt us to take her with him in his gold painting Jalopy. The place they actually travel is ambiguous for both readers and characters. Friends themselves do not seem to know where plans are going to go to Connie, they just say they are away from home. "If you want to go somewhere, that is a new idea for him" (Ots 660). The fact that a friend is near the house of Conny is important to understand what Conney is experiencing. .
