The Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona is a high quality research program. Although we are a relatively small department, the recent National Research Council is ranked 33rd among 108 PhD institutions nationwide. Also, we are the most excellent computer science department at public universities, each teacher has the most cited number (reference), the number of publications per teacher is 17th.
Chris Seguin, a Behavior Scientist and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Arizona, believes that social elements of depression are often overlooked. He wrote a chapter on this topic posted in the 2011 Personal Psychology Handbook. Segrid pointed out that from a biological point of view it should not be seen in order to fully understand depression. He continued, stating that there is a close relationship between human social skills and their struggle against depression.
Paulo Shakarian is a professor of computer science at Arizona State University. He studied at the US military academy at West Point, studied his bachelor's degree and served as an intelligence officer of the US military. These experiences made him very familiar with the activities of terrorists. Shakarian thought the war was far when he was young, but when he was a senior at West Point, the attack on September 11 changed his mind. In 2002, he was sent to Iraq as the first US armored division intelligence officer for 14 months, then became a platoon leader of the German resident 501 intelligence. During his stay in Germany, Shakarians collected, processed and analyzed massive amounts of military information and won bronze medals.
Kambhampati is a professor of computer science at Ira A. Fulton Engineering department at Arizona State University and works on artificial intelligence focusing on planning and decision making, especially in the context of collaboration between humans and computers. As chairman of the Artificial Intelligence Promotion Association, Kambhampati argues that 'artificial intelligence is a threat to humanity' has been widely taken up and diverts our attention to discussions that increase the impact of autonomy and automation on society I believe.
