In The Bacchae and Medea of Euripides, there is a big dual opposition between the two plays. Binomial opposition, such as good and evil, is the opposite of the two terms. Binomial conflict is used to present aspects of contrast (Marvin, 1). In The Bacchae and Medea, Euripides uses binomial opposition to emphasize central themes. The important binary opposition to be used is men and women, foreigners and citizens, and God and men. The contrast between men and women is an important opposition between the two plays.
The tragic heroes of Medea and Agaue, Medea and Bacchae of Euripides represent a similar idea. For both the plays, the plot is focused on the revenge of these two characters, so their desire of revenge is the main dynamism behind drama collisions. In any case, revenge by Medea and Agaue is the result of the most fundamental and instinctive emotional behavior without the most reasonable restraint. Therefore pursuit of women and their revenge will be representative of human thought and emotion.

In his theater The Bacchae and Medea, Greek playwright Euripides clearly expressed his views on the relationship between reason and passion in human life. Euripides believes there is a constant struggle between these two factors, and that people have to be able to find the right balance to exist peacefully, that his role can not be done. Through his character, he expressed his belief that in most cases passion dominates the struggle, and when this happens the correct logic will be distorted. The protagonists of each drama were unable to find the right balance between passion and reason, but could not find death.
