Both Oedipus and Othello are victims of a tragic fall and are noble and heroic people who can compare and contrast one another. King Oedipus writer Sophocles and Othello writer Williams Shakespeare are influential playwrights of their generation and their legacy continues to this day. The two playwrights created their masterpieces at different times; the life of Sophocles was consistent with the golden age of Greek tragedies, and Shakespeare worked in Elizabeth.
