One of the key elements of software engineering is the platform. There are various kinds of computing platforms. Some of them include AmigaOS, Linux, Windows, Solaris. These examples are just a few of the various computing platforms. The types of computing platforms can be categorized into three different categories, including examples of operating systems, running software frameworks, and hardware examples. The platform requirements and maintenance methods are slightly different.
Laboratory computer platforms include Macintosh, Windows and Unix (Linux). Computer lab capacity ranges from 8 to 48 workstations and locations are distributed throughout the UCSC campus. In some places the computer room has special instrumentation equipment (HD data projector, scanner and video editing station). Most laboratories have consultants. Double sided black and white laser printing is available in all computer rooms. Student accounts automatically enable printing and processing fees through the student portal (MyUCSC); cash / printing cards are not required. Color laser printing is available for Cowell Apt 101 Lab, Baskin Engineering 109 Lab, Porter Arts Lab and Social Sciences 1 Mac Lab and Windows Lab.
For most desktops or laptops, Microsoft Windows is preinstalled. Macintosh computers have Mac OS X preinstalled. Many enterprise servers use Linux or UNIX operating systems. The operating system (OS) is the first thing to load into the computer - without an operating system, the computer is useless. Recently, the operating system has begun to appear on small computers. If you want to apply patches to electronic devices, from the mobile phone to the wireless access point, please find the operating system that corresponds to many of the devices we use everyday. Computers used in these small devices have become extremely powerful, so they can actually run operating systems and applications. Today, this progress is meaningful and natural development, as typical modern mobile phone computers are more powerful than desktop computers 20 years ago.
