Several scholars criticized the democratic evaluation of Freedom House for political bias. In this paper, we examine whether the difference between many other democratic indices and FH ratings can systematically explain with the variables that record the relationship between the US and the surveyed country. In distinguishing the period before 1988 and the period after 1989, the previous term received consistent evidence strongly diverging the FH rating. At the latter stage, the estimate is not consistent, but it still suggests a political bias in the FH score.
