In this article we compare two poems that represent the connection between human beings and life. The two verses I compare and contrast are imtiaz Dharker's "Blessings" and Grace Nichols' Island Man. Both poets use these poems to express their emotions. Grace Nichols assigns her experience separated from the environment and the experience of where they lived for many years. Instead, Imtiaz Dharker uses the word "blessing" to express the importance of poor water.

Grace Nichols was born and guided in Guyana on the West Indies and worked as a teacher, journalist, and information assistant there, and was educated at the University of Guyana. She partnered with her in 1977 and the poet John Agard came to England. They live in Sussex. She edited a number of autism, wrote my own collections and regularly performed.
