A valid black line option compares two documents and displays only the changes that occurred between them. The document to be compared has not been changed. By default, the third new document will show a legal black line comparison.
If you want to compare changes from multiple reviewers, do not select this option. Choosing to combine revisions by multiple authors into one document
Click "Details" and select the setting you want to compare in the document. In Show Changes, select whether to display character level or word level changes.
If you do not want to see changes in the third document, select the document you want to see changes.
IMPORTANT: The options you select under Details will be the default options for comparison when comparing documents next.
If any version of the document tracks changes, Microsoft Word displays a message box. To accept the changes and compare the documents, click Yes.

By comparing this option you can compare two documents. For example, suppose you have documents with the same name in two places and you need to know if they are different. Or, the reviewer who wanted to check the changed content never used change of the tracking, received the edited version of the document. Tip: Revisions can be deleted with the document inspector (comment, revision, version, comment), but the "delete all" button is too strong. You can not choose to approve or reject it (approval only). It is best to use the tracking tool on the Review tab.
Version control is common in business and law. Indeed, 'red line of contract' and 'legal black line' are the earliest form of version control and are still used in business and law with varying degrees of complexity. The most sophisticated technology is starting to be used to electronically track CAD file changes (see Product Data Management). It is an alternative to traditional version control "manual" electronic implementation. The traditional version control system uses a centralized model where all version control functions run on a shared server. If two developers try to change the same file at the same time, developers may eventually overwrite each other's work if there is no way to manage access rights. Centralized revision management system solves this problem in one of two different "source management models": file locking and version merging
