Compare and merge two versions of a document

You can compare the two versions of the document and see the differences between them. It is also possible to combine two versions of the same document into one new document. In either case, Word will show the difference from the revision mark.

Version control It is almost impossible to incorporate changes such as git and svn into version control when there are Word documents being edited with other people. Using Markdown is as simple as it works like merging other text files. Yes, I know that Office products have a collaboration system, but I still think that there are too many for simple document processing. Please edit using any platform. One of the best things is that you can edit Markdown files on any platform using the editor of your choice. As a core Linux fan, this is one of the important arguments for using Markdown. Of course there are LibreOffice and other tools for handling Word documents on Linux, but sometimes they mess up formats or lack some functionality.

Consider using version control software. This allows you to log all changes made to the file or directory and easily restore the previous version or the two versions of the merged file when problems occur. This is often used for computer code generation, documentation, and improvement in software projects, but it is also useful for dealing with long text documents such as paper. Common free version control systems include git / GitHub, Subversion, Bazaar (see Table 1).

By comparing this option you can compare two documents. For example, suppose you have documents with the same name in two places and you need to know if they are different. Or, the reviewer who wanted to check the changed content never used change of the tracking, received the edited version of the document. Tip: Revisions can be deleted with the document inspector (comment, revision, version, comment), but the "delete all" button is too strong. You can not choose to approve or reject it (approval only).
