Prior to the American Civil War, it was basically divided into two regions, north and south. In these two areas, culture, economy and climate are greatly different, which makes lifestyle and view different. The problem caused by the difference between the north and the south eventually led the country to plunge into the biggest civil war - the most bloody war in American history.
There are various climate and nature features in the north and south. Agriculture is difficult because the northern part is primarily barren land with many rocks, humidity is high in summer and snow is much in winter. Because of the large number of mountains, common rivers and waterfalls are common in the north. As a result, people in the north started using water to operate the factory. At the same time, the weather is usually hot and sunny and rainy in the south, so the growing season will be longer. Land in the south is flatter than the northern part, which makes it a more desirable farmland.
The population of North and South is very different. The northern population increased significantly between 1800 and 1860. Due to the large number of immigrants from Europe, the North population has increased from 5 million to 31 million. On the other hand, the southern population consists mainly of slave Africans. By 1860, a third of the population of 12 million people in the south were slaves.
The North-South environment dwells citizens in contrasting places.
