Mass media is a public relations means reaching a large audience. Walter Lippmann, Herman, and Chomsky expressed their views on the role of the mass media and how this role applies to the principles of democratic governments. However, Lippman 's view on public opinion and Herman' s view on Chomsky 's "propaganda model" are quite different, but at the same time, by controlling the media, Lippman' s support for mass media is better. In general, Herman and Chomsky condemned the abuse of media control, as a general citizen's purpose and role to balance the living environment of ordinary citizens.
Lippman is seen as a moral and intellectual opponent of Nom Chomsky. Chomsky used the text of Lippmann on the media. It is manufacturing consent. Philosopher John Dewey (1859-1952) considers that the modern world is too complicated and that every citizen can not control every aspect, but Dewey thinks it is different from Lippmann. (Many "public" complexes in society) can form a "great community" that can educate, make judgments, and solve social problems
Harvard's Walter Lippmann House is home to the Nieman Press Foundation and was named after him. Norm Chomsky and Edward S. Herman use the phrase "agree to make" by Lippmann as the title of the "manufacturing consent" of the book including parts that criticize Lippmann's view on the media.
This is what Lipman calls "consent to manufacture". If the phrase sounds good, it is because this history is most directly conveyed by Noam Chomsky, which became part of the film in the late 1980s. Chomsky criticized the illegal position of the media group in the second half of the 20th century and its objectivity, and this media culture eventually became a discussion of a new agreement (pronunciation: elite). But with regard to at least some problems, many people who are consistent with Chomsky seem to miss his message altogether as it comes about the news. Today's Chomsky agrees with many people that "fake news" is an excellent explanation of information generated by major media companies. Ironically, the idea of filtering Facebook, Reddit and Twitter more roughly demands reduction and the reestablishment of explosive consensus discourse. Man
