Communities That Care Curriculum

Target audience: nonprofit and faith organizations, prevention specialists, public health experts, community alliance

Ethnic and ethnically diverse population. The course has seven major elements: defense, community outreach and care, anatomy and physiology, basic skills, perinatal support, outpatient management and cultural competence adjustment. AAP and other experts provide technical assistance. Their initial EPIC training at their Community Education Doctor (EPIC) was launched in Georgia in 2000 to provide a free vaccination education program for private physicians. In 2007, the Georgia branch of AAP launched the EPIC breastfeeding program. The program curriculum is designed to educate healthcare providers about the latest breastfeeding information so they can provide the best care and instruction for breastfeeding mothers.

Course: 12 courses from K are based on standards and abilities. It is comprehensive and built on the needs of learners and communities. The course has been completed and it is available on the DepEd website. It was the first time in history that the whole course was digitized and opened to the public. Students will be evaluated to determine their strengths and interests. These include competency tests, career assessment tests, high-school student career interest lists. A career awareness campaign will also be launched to help guide students in the selection and tracking of major subjects
