Neil Gaiman is a best-selling author of American gods and Neverwhere is a graduate instructor at the University of Pennsylvania Art School. He made a speech in the 2012 class. When I first saw a speech on YouTube, I was fully fascinated. From the beginning to the end, Gaiman confused me.
Choosing Johnson Secretary as a graduate is devastating to me. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression, but the university provides an important basis for their choice as a graduate student. When I was in Georgetown, I was taught the value of diversity, diversity, respect, and dialogue, but this choice did not reflect any of these values. Johnson will talk about dozens of undocumented students who graduated from a foreign service college - in front of students living fearing this guy and his department policy everyday
The graduation ceremony selection committee of the university can freely choose a specific speaker who does not meet that standard. This does not violate freedom of speech. Everyone has the right to be selected as a graduate. If the proposed candidate does not meet their standards, the administrator approving the selection can refuse approval. This is not a violation of freedom of expression. If the spokespeople do not meet their standards, the body of the students can protest against the choice of graduation speakers who do not infringe the freedom of speech.
