Columbus Day Lesson

Columbus Day is October 12th, but we also celebrate on the second Monday in October. This is a federal holiday, so post offices and federal government offices are closed. Schools in other areas are closed but schools in a certain area are open. Columbus Day celebrated the landing of Christopher Columbus on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas in 1492.
