Prior to Europeans entering North America, the continent of Africa was a vast land comprised of various native American countries, each with its own cultural, historical and social rank. Indigenous people here have all aspects of human integration into society around the world. They have social structure, trade routes, and relations between various indigenous peoples, but they are not groups of heathen waiting to be discovered by Caucasus of Europe.

In the 16th century (1500s), the work of colonization in the United States was almost entirely left to Spain. British colonial rule began in 1584 when 108 crew members of Sir Walter Raleigh's seven vessels, commanded by Richard Glennville and Ralph Ryan, arrived at Roanoke Island in 1584. On June 4, 1584, the colony of Roanoke Island in Virginia was founded by Sir Walter Rowley who was named Elizabeth Queen I "Virginia" and was appointed governor of the new territory. The American colony moved to John White in 1587 and established the British Roanoke colony. On August 18, 1587, Virginia Dahl was born in Roanoke colony and became the first British child born in British colonial period.
