Over the centuries there are many detailed and comprehensive theories of child development. There are five main theories, two of which are cognitive theory and socio-cultural theory. A wonderful idea behind macro theory called cognitive theory is to make Piaget and the idea of social and cultural theory was developed by Lev Vygotsky. Each of these scientists has a comprehensive view of the theories they developed. The first major cognitive theorist was Jean Piaget, a Swiss scientist.
The main cognitive psychologist you should know is Piaget's cognitive development theory and Piaget at the cognitive development stage. Lev Vygotsky was known for his socio-cultural development theory; Noam Chomsky was known as the father of contemporary linguistics; Jerome Bruner made the word "scaffolding". Our next viewpoint is development perspective. Developmental psychology is a study of changes that learners have made over the long term. The concept of development involves essentially continuous and discontinuous theory. The theory of discontinuity is gradual. The learning and development process includes various stages characterized by qualitative differences in behavior. Theorists who assume a discontinuous theory propose specific start and end periods for each stage.
Cognitive development theory of Lev Vygotsky's cultural history focuses on the role of culture in the development of higher psychological functions such as child's speech and reasoning. His theory sometimes is said to have a social and cultural perspective. In other words, this theory emphasizes the importance of society and culture to promote cognitive development. Bigotsky believes that social adults develop children's cognitive development in an intentional and systematic way by participating in challenging and meaningful activities. In this course, we will return to the introduction example to explain the principle of Bigotsky's theory. In our introduction, the father intentionally interacted with the child and helped to understand how to load the building block into the designated hole. Without such help, she will continue to fail. But with her father's meaningful direction, she was able to bring the block successfully.
