67 years ago, one of the most successful clothing stores opened women's clothes in Sweden. Eleven years later, the original "Hennes" was renamed Hennes & Mauritz. In Swedish, "Hennis" means "for her". After Erling Persson met with Mauritz Widforss and became a business partner, the store began selling men's and women's clothing. Originally Mauritz Widforss owned a store that focused on selling things to fishermen. Erling Persson decided to purchase the Widforss store and they created H & M together.

H & M AB (Originally Hennes & Mauritz) is a Swedish clothing company known for low-priced designer clothing retailers. Established in 1947 by Erling Persson in Västerås, Sweden, sold only women's clothing and was called Hennes which means "her" in Swedish. Persson acquired the venue and stock of Stockholm hunting gear store called Mauritz Widforss in 1968.

In 1964, the first store outside Sweden opened in Norway. 1968, E. Persson acquired the assets and inventory of a hunting gear store called Mauritz Widfoss in Stockholm. In-store men's clothing inventory expanded the business for men and children. The store was renamed to Hennes & Mauritz and later became H & M (H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB, 2013). Today, H & M is one of the world's leading apparel retailers, with a sales revenue of 150 billion ka, an after-tax profit of 17.2 billion ku, and online sales of 3,132 stores in 53 countries on five continents. The company has more than 116,000 employees in 53 countries and 3,132 stores. Instead of owning a factory, H & M entrusts production to approximately 900 independent suppliers, mainly in Asia and Europe. These facilities are used for horizontal division of labor rather than integration. Many of their products are produced in some of the poorest countries in the world and are not a bad thing because they create millions of jobs for developing countries.
