Clive Bell and the Formalist Theory

Clive Bell and formalism theory "Art is an iterative form of human customs, some people believe that all human societies show evidence of artistic activity" (Carol 5). However, humans never finally defined art. There are many things that satisfy the requirements of art, and each work has many qualities. The formalistic artistic theory proposed by Clivebell defines the art and attempts to answer many of these questions.

After learning the ideal and formalism of Clivebell in the context of visual art, it resonated a lot with me. I began thinking about formalism in the context of the music I listened, primarily hip-hop music. My feelings for music are the same as Bell's visual art. In order to complete this work, I thought about Bell's important attention form. This can be a line or shape on the canvas, but I compare it to the rhythm of notes, rhythm, and music. This idea reminds me of Kanye West. In a recent interview, he revealed that he has empathy. And it can see the sound. He said that he regarded his songs and albums as healthy paintings. In many ways, I think Kanye West is a perfect example of the theory of music formalism. His sampling style uses various kinds of music that seem to be unrelated to each other and combines them to form products that are larger than the sum of the parts.

Formalism is not a way of contextualizing the whole picture of society but a way of thinking focusing on the composition of art. Clive Bell is a famous philosopher who agrees with the theory of formalism over art. According to Bell, the most complete problem in aesthetics is finding common points among visual works that stimulate the audience's aesthetic feelings. Bell expresses aesthetic emotions as "personal experiences of special emotions caused by art work". Bell's strange feelings are the feelings that I experienced while watching art, which gave me a touch that I could not express in words. Bell further explains this emotion as a window to the metaphysical world, suggesting that all art is bigger and more represented like the truth of God.
