Classification

Prison classification is a way of assessing the risks of prisoners and balancing safety requirements and program needs.

The level of classification is ranked in descending order of public security risks presented by prisoners. While the prisoners in the nearest prison are most at risk, the prisoners in the nearest prison are most at risk

With this combination of maternal duties, prisoners may also be put under various control conditions. The administrative status includes restricted housing for management (RHAP), restricted housing for disciplinary action (RHDP), administrative restricted housing (RHCP), and maximum safety management (HCON). Each of these control states further limits prisoners' freedom and privileges

Assignment and removal of prisoners from these states is normally left to the discretion of the higher classification agencies of the state prison system. These additional guardianship controls are usually carried out to maintain prison order, to safeguard employees' safety, and to ensure the security of prisoners.
