Clarisse is an interesting character that suddenly appears in a novel. She is a fun girl who knows the surroundings and nature. "My uncle is running slowly on the highway, he drove 40 miles per hour and they sentenced two days of imprisonment, is not it fun and sad?" I wonder why driving slowly and ensuring safety can actually imprison someone.
When Clarisse talked about random things around her, it looked like she did not carefully think about her, but it was actually full of surprising meaning. When she asked Montague whether he was happy, Montagu realized that he was never happy and began to doubt himself. We saw the beginning of his identity crisis, and when Clarisse met her, his face looked like his face. Clearly, Clarisse awakens some of the potential complaints of Montag. Clarisse showed him the lack of love, happiness and satisfaction in his life. It is her way to start self discovery and try out the transformation of the world. When she was knocked down, the sudden death of Clarisse was unexpected and shocking. Mildred knew it before Montag, but he did not tell him until he asked her.
However, the reader immediately realized that not everything Montag wanted. When Montag met his new and vibrant teenage neighbor Claire McClellan, he began to ask if he was really happy. Clarisse entrusted Montag with enlightenment; she asked not only his own personal well-being, but also questioned his work and the fact that he knew little about history. At the same time, she also gave the reader the opportunity to see the government dramatically changed the history the citizens believe. For example, Montague did not know that a firefighter was only 20 feet long. Montag does not know that people can actually talk to each other; using the living room walls by the government eliminates the need for casual conversation. Clarisse caused Montag's curiosity and began to help him discover that his life had missed true happiness for a while.
That night, when Montag returned from work, he met his 17 - year - old neighbor, Clarice McClellan. Montague was soon fascinated by the curiosity of this precocious girl. Clarisse loves nature, does not watch TV or hate high-speed cars. She steadily questioned his view on the world and left the question "Are you happy?" Claris impressed Montague, and he kept thinking about their very short lives encounter and her very different way to see the world. After a while Montag accepted the answer to Clarisse's last question. He is not happy
