Christian Rossetti, born in London on December 5, 1830, was one of the four children of Italian parents. Her father was Poet Gabriel Rossetti and her brother Dante Gabriel Rossetti was a poet and a painter. Rossetti's first poem was written in 1842 and printed on her grandfather's personal newspaper. In 1850, she wrote seven poems by pen name Ellen Alleyne for the former journal The Germ of Raphael created by her brother William Michael and his friend.
