Equality encouraged during the Communist regime hindered the development of the elite culture within China. But Communism is supported by capitalism, Chinese nobility is rising under the recent economic boom. Because China is the past of the Communist, it lacks long-established aristocratic culture. The emergence of Art Nouveau - literally "New Art" - can go back to two very different influences. The first one is like a chaotic reaction to the movement of Art Nouveau. . Victorian Art Deco design and composition. The second one is the fashion of Japanese art, especially woodcut prints, which dominated many European artists such as Gustav Klimt, Emile Galle, James Abbott McNeill Whistler from the 1880s to the 1990s. In particular, Japanese woodcut prints include flowers and spheres, as well as "whip" curves. These are important elements that ultimately become the Art Nouveau style.

Another quality of new Victorian writing is that it often tells an intimate story that is not the center of a Victorian novel for social structures such as women and servants. For example, these novels reveal the fact that women live sexually powerful lives during distrust.
