Children With Behavioral Disorders in Single Parent Homes

Unfortunately, we live in a difficult world in the age of economy. For parents, child rearing may be a struggle - especially if there is only one parent. According to statistics of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), approximately 15.9% of the world's children live in their parents' household. Today there are about 1.37 million single parents and 21.8 million children are raised in the United States alone (about 26% of children under the age of 21 in the United States).

Many children depend on negative behaviors because parental supervision is limited in single parent families. Children from a single parent family show more behavioral problems than students in their entire family. Different behavior between males and females reveals psychosocial problems arising from divorce and single parents (Southworth, 1984). Girls of only parent families are less likely to cause behavior problems than boys. The most common behavioral problems among men are manifested in antisocial behavior from antisocial behavior to illegality.
