Children and Gangs

The gang problem is increasing not only in major urban areas but also in other major urban areas. The Ministry of Justice said that there are now over 80,000 members and 30,000 gangs. The National Youth Gang Center (NYGC) has conducted an annual survey funded by the Ministry of Justice and acknowledges that all 250,000 towns are currently having gang problems. Many young people who participate in the gang may be due to the following reasons.

In today's United States, violence of children and gang gangs is a big problem. Everyday more and more children will join the gang. It is clear that these groups of young people caused many problems. Gang violence and gang activity will affect everyone around the gang members. These gang kids are hurting themselves, each other, their families and the communities around them. From 1996 to 2004, the number of young people involved in gang is actually decreasing, but violence in these gangs has not decreased. Since 1980, the rapid increase of youth groups has exacerbated fears and misunderstandings of the general public against youth organizations. To cope with growing concerns about youth gangs, the Young Gang series of the Youth Judicial Crime Prevention Bureau (OJJDP) is exploring many important issues related to youth gangs. The issues considered in this series include the needs of communities and young people living in front of gang migrants, gang growth, women's participation in gangs, murder, drugs, violence, and youth gangs.

The gang consists of a large family of men, women, and children. The group recruited children from 7 to 9 years old. There are many reasons, such as protection, for gang members to join the gang. They feel that they are in need of protection as they live in the gang area and face the danger of violence by hostile gangs.
