In this article we review a survey on the psychological effects of gun violence against children and adolescents and suggest ways for parents, school administrators, and mental health workers to alleviate these adverse effects. Children exposed to gun violence may suffer from short-term and long-term negative psychological effects such as anger, withdrawal, posttraumatic stress, insensitivity to violence. All these results can lead to a cycle of continuous violence. When exposed to gun violence, some children have a high risk of causing bad results. Risk groups include children injured by gun violence, those who witnessed close range violence, people exposed to violent behavior at the community or school, and those exposed to violent media
