Before Americans invaded the territory of Cherokee, the country of Cherokee lived in peace and harmony. Keetoowah is the name of the ancient Cherokee town in the east hometown, it is said to be the big city of the people (Conley 18). According to tradition, many Cherokee Indians are coming from here. They call themselves Ani-Kituwagi, or Keetoowah, or Ani-yunwi-ya, Conley 27. Keetoowah's fertile land is full of resources, but as the population increases too much people will move and build a new town.
Cherokee Indian American Indian history in the eastern part of the country is always associated with the country of Cherokee Indians. Cherokee was by far the largest and most advanced tribe when Europeans first arrived and contacted Native Americans. Everyone has too many tribal backgrounds so I will focus on Cherokee. Many of their ways and customs are very similar to all the other tribes of the East.
