Charles W. Chesnutt

Charles W. Chesnut was born in Cleveland in 1858, was a white grandson and a free black son and grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina State in 1856. Civil war. Charles W. Chesnutt was born June 20, 1858 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the eldest son of Anne Maria Sampson, a free black man from Andrew Jackson Chesnutt and North Carolina. When I was a child, the Chesnut family was forced to migrate to Ohio because the civil war in slavery became fierce. After the end of the civil war, Chesnut moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina. At this point Charles Chesnutt received some education at Howard School of Friedman College, but Chesnutt was almost a self-learner.
