John and Elizabeth Proctor lived in Salem, a house away from the village. They have two children and two sons. Elizabeth is very cold and serious, and John is fine and cheerful. This family had a servant, Abigail Williams. Before the story started, John and Abigail were lovers. But one day, Elizabeth knew what was happening, and she dismissed Abigail. But Abigail fell in love with John like crazy, and she decided to retaliate. So she invited the other girls in the village to come to the forest and dance with her in a pot of fire.
