Extracurricular activities help to foster the whole student. We can not make one dimensional students at our school. Many students apply their skills to extracurricular activities such as athletics and sports and academic ability to receive university sports and sports scholarships. In this way, many students of my previous school received a sports scholarship from an American university. Students who participate in extracurricular activities also tend to improve their academic performance. This is thought to be due to the increase in self-esteem and the improvement of power and time management. They become more organized in the classroom. They show a decrease in risk behavior and an increase in belonging awareness, and as a result actions are improved.
Many parents and students do not understand the importance of extracurricular activities. Over the years, I had to convince some parents to allow children to continue participating in extracurricular activities. This is commonly seen when students are suffering from academics or when students are fully focused on academics and want to exclude everything else. They feel that extracurricular activities are a waste of valuable time and that children are forced to return home late at night.
