This battle began in medieval Europe and was one of many customs with the first settlers to American colonies. America recorded the first battle in the Massachusetts bay colony in 1621 and continued the duel in the United States in the late 19th century in the United States. They are more popular in the south than the north, but another factor emphasizes the differences between the two regions that became very obvious a few years before the Civil War.

The European fighting style was established in colonies of American European countries. Duel is not a woman, not a honor, but someone to challenge.
