Chapter 22 - Fighting for the Four Freedoms: World War II, 1941–1945

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, when the name of the United Nations was derived in 1941, he explained the countries that fought against the axis during the Second World War. Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" also became a charter of the United Nations organization in 1945. The "four freedom" speech was announced on January 6, 1941, and is the state speech of Roosevelt. In the speech Roosevelt outlined the four freedoms the Americans ought to have: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from freedom and fear of desire. Most of us are aware of the first two freedom here. Liberation from deprivation means that Americans should be entitled to a reasonable standard of living. Americans should not live in poverty, they should have access to education and medical care. Roosevelt is a Democrat and politically progressive.
