Provides background information on Sterrewacht's policies, tasks, and evaluation methods. It is based on analysis of annual report and evaluation document. Chapters 2 to 4 are based on an interview. Chapter 2 examines the relationship between the value of astronomers in the workplace and the value of funds, publications, and vocational systems. In chapter 3 we are studying the limit of recognition in astronomy. In chapter 4 we analyze the influence of the difference in value on research behavior and knowledge production. Chapter 5 reflects the results and explains the disparity in evaluation in astronomy. Chapter 6 summarizes the results of this study and draws conclusions about the use of component indicators of effects in astronomy. The next six chapters are discussion, policy implications of the findings, and recommendations for future research.
