Since European countries want a better trade route, different exploration teams are looking for new routes to China and India. Christopher Columbus thought he had found the land in Asia, but sailing over time led to the establishment of the Spanish Empire in the Americas.

Early European settlers brought their traditional religion. Some parts of the country are primarily Catholics, but most of the rest are Protestant. European explorers are trying to spread their religious beliefs to Native Americans. Some local people combine these beliefs with their own traditional beliefs.

Mercantilism believes that the power of the country is based on its economic power. Rich countries are thought to be much stronger than rich countries. In some European countries we believe that there is a possibility that assets will increase significantly owing to the acquisition of their territory. This encourages Europeans to explore the Americas
