The first US military battle in World War I, Kantiny's battle, had a major impact on Colonel Robert McCormick's life. After returning from his service, Colonel McCormick renamed his family garden to Cantigny after the battle was over.

On 28th May 2008, the battle of Kantiny, the McCormick Foundation and the 90th anniversary of the 28th Infantry Regiment Association announced a statue by Steven Spears, a statue depicting the progress of the group "Cantinie's Lion".
