San Jose and San Miguel de Aguao were founded in San Antonio in 1720. After the invasion of France in 1719 the East Texas mission temporarily withdrew, the plan was started by Antonio Margildo Jesus, the president of Zacatecas Francis Academy of Science. Just like many missions, San Jose is in various places. The first place is the east side of the San Antonio River, and finally the current place in the west side of the river in 1739. The mission was secularized in 1824 and was taken care of by the San Fernando church. In the next few years, the building of the mission, such as the collapse of the roof, dome, clock tower, has deteriorated. In 1933, major restoration began with the cooperation between the local church and civil protectionist, Federal Work Planning Bureau (WPA) and Civil Engineering Bureau (click to see the picture). Since 1978, MissionSanJosé is part of San Antonio National Historical Park.
Mission San Antonio de Valero was founded by Father Antonio Olivares in 1718. However, the origin of the church is much longer. It was established in 1700 and was originally called Mission San Francisco Solano located south of today's Eagle Pass. Father Olivares closed it in 1716 and transferred the task to San Antonio. Also in 1718, Father Olivares built Presidio San Antoniode Béxar. He moved closer, but he is planning to find a military post one mile north of the mission. The purpose of this arrangement was to let the soldiers leave, as the soldiers feared Payaya and other core Hiltecans pursuing Christianity.
Mission San Juan Capistrano is known as Mission San José de los Nazonis in eastern Texas. When the assignment moved to San Antonio in 1731, it was renamed to avoid confusion between San Jose and San Miguel de Aguajo. San Juan Capistrano is 5 km (3 miles) south of Mission San José, serving Coahuiltecan's locals. This is the furthest task of President Bexar's mission and is frequently attacked by Apache. By 1762, this mission included stone chapels with priests for soldiers who took part in the assignment and a stone house. A room made by adobe is built along the wall to accommodate 200 people living in the United States. The mission was secularized in 1794 and its property was divided into remaining Indian missions. The pastor continues worshiping the church there, but other evangelism is over. The church is restored and remains an active parishes.
