For example, we can not produce computers unless we extract minerals, fossil fuels and other natural resources all over the world. One type of resource is a rare earth ore mainly mined in China (NRC, 2008). The mining industry is strongly influenced by the price of commodity minerals, and the price of commodity minerals is often unstable.
