BART is a modern high-speed rail system with 34 stations and 75-mile tracks in San Francisco, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. It is funded by the Public Fund (Stephen Unger). The metropolitan area is serviced by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) at eight stations in Auckland. This system is headquartered in Auckland and has a major transshipment center at MacArthur and 19th Street station. BART had its headquarters in the building above the Lake Merritt BART station until 2006, but moved to the Kaiser Center due to the problem on earthquake resistance. In 1999 the Auckland City Council adopted a bicycle master plan as part of the land use and transport (LUTE) element of Auckland's 1998 master plan. The plan was developed to promote alternatives to private cars. The Auckland City Council reaffirmed the bicycle program in 2005. It was revised in 2007 and reaffirmed in 2012. From 1999 to 2007, the city can set up 900 bike racks in Auckland and accommodate more than 2,000 bicycles. By the end of 2017, more than 160 bicycle lanes and 9,900 bicycle parking spaces were built.
