Case Studies

Case study Psychology experiments are often long and laborious investigations and tests, sometimes it can take years. But they gave us a deeper understanding of how human thought works and develops from the day we were born until the day we died. Deciphering the information generated by these experiments can be as difficult as doing them and it is almost impossible for those without a psychological background. The following three experiments were found on the APA website and are a good example of contemporary psychology research.

A case study is a common research method in social science and life science. There is no case study definition. 1 But it is very simple. It is described as an intensive systematic survey of individual individuals, groups, communities, or other units that researchers look at detailed data related to some variables.

When conducting a case study, the "case" to be surveyed may be an individual, organization, event, or action that exists at a specific time and place. For example, clinical science has generated well-known individual case studies and case studies of clinical practice. However, when using "incident" in an abstract sense such as claims, propositions, discussions, such cases can be the subject of many research methods, not just case studies. Case studies may include qualitative and quantitative research methods

Case studies are detailed studies on specific individuals or specific situations. For example, Freud developed several human case studies as the basis of psychoanalysis theory, and Piaget made a case study of children to study development stages. There is no single way to implement case studies, but you can use combinations of several methods (eg unstructured interview, direct observation).

Case studies are often done in clinical medicine and involve gathering and reporting descriptive information on specific environments such as specific people and schools. In psychology case studies are often limited to specific individual studies. This information is mainly about personal past events (ie retrospective exhibitions) and biographies about the major events currently occurring in his or her daily life. To create a fairly detailed and comprehensive profile of letters, psychologists can use different kinds of accessible data such as medical records, employer reports, school reports, or psychological test results.
