Case Studies

A case study is a common research method in social science and life science. There is no definition in the case study. 1 But it is very easy. It is described as an intensive, systematic survey of individual individuals, groups, communities, or other units that researchers look for detailed data related to some variables.

When conducting a case study, the "case" to be surveyed may be an individual, organization, event, or action that exists at a specific time and place. For example, clinical science has generated well-known individual case studies and case studies of clinical practice. However, when using "incident" in an abstract sense such as claims, propositions, discussions, such cases are not mere case studies but can be the subject of many research methods. Case studies may include qualitative and quantitative research methods

Case studies are detailed studies on specific individuals or specific situations. For example, Freud developed several human case studies as the basis of psychoanalysis theory, and Piaget made a case study of children to study development stages. There is no single way to implement case studies, but you can use combinations of several methods (eg, unstructured interview, direct observation).

Case studies are often done in clinical medicine and involve gathering and reporting descriptive information on specific environments such as specific people and schools. In psychology case studies are often limited to specific individual research. This information is mainly about personal past events (ie retrospective exhibitions) and biographies about the major events currently occurring in his or her daily life. To create a fairly detailed and comprehensive profile of the character, psychologists can use different kinds of accessible data, such as medical records, employer reports, school reports, or psychological test results .
