Career Days with DWP & Portland Workforce Alliance

Design Week Portland and Portland Workforce Alliance will hold four days of Professional Day from Tuesday April 17th to Friday April 20th with 70 students from the Portland Public High School. Students work day in creative professionals working in many design areas, creative companies in Portland, and spend the day by getting behind the scenes appearance. They learn about career paths, acquire projects and workspaces, and learn the skills and education necessary to succeed in creative fields.

The Portland Workforce Alliance educates students on occupational opportunities in partnership with local employers as part of a strategy to build Oregon's graduation rate, elasticity, prosperity and educational standards It is an independent nonprofit organization. Along with PWA, Design Week Portland hopes to connect, educate and motivate students who are interested in design and art through this expanded program. Youth track of this year was created based on yesterday's program production. The number of days increased, the number of studio increased, and participation through field workshop deepened.

Students organized by Wieden + Kennedy will receive behind-the-scenes footage from the advertising industry, participate in design thinking workshops with Nelson Cash and Google Design Director, and visit Mozilla and Owen Jones.

Students organized by Ziba Design will learn about branding and product development. This day will include a seminar at Second Story Studio and a visit to Opsis Architecture and Red & Co.

Students organized by Adidas will explore North American headquarters and learn about shoe design and manufacture. This day includes the laboratory hours of the manufacturer to customize your shoes.

Organized by Instrument, students are exposed to branding and product design during the company seminar with the Instrument team. Including the manufacturer space of Queen Bee and Open Signal

Among the existing design programs during the DWP period is the "Show and Tell" series by Kate Bingaman Burt at Portland State University. DWP also brought its own program, including 6 to 8 short films and a feature film design festival including curation by Singapore's Felix Ng. In addition, there are 50 studio visits and production space. WebVisions based in Portland held a special seminar called "Design Narrative Media Experience" for DWP. Meanwhile, WeMake will host a "Put A Bird In It" event where local designers will create 100 custom bird houses. To fund it.
