Care Delivery and Therapeutic Interventions

Students have recognized the need to improve services by observing accidental needlestick injuries in the area. In order to demonstrate and understand the involved process, students develop a service improvement program to reduce the number of needlestick accidents. The student service program introduces the needle removal (see Appendix 1). The PDSA concept is used to perform health care configuration changes. Langley developed the PDSA cycle and explained the importance of change and development in these important changes expected to contribute to improvement (Langley et al., 2009) (see Appendix 2).

Recognizing opportunities to improve care services, many clinicians and healthcare providers employ Population Health Management (PHM) tools and strategies to support care and care management goals. PHM is defined as a series of interventions designed to maintain and improve people's health, from low-risk healthy individuals to high-risk individuals with one or more chronic illnesses.
