75 years ago, my grandmother and great-grandmother were held at the Hastings Park livestock building, also known as the PNE exhibition hall. They were forced to live in the barn with other women and children in Japan and Canada, and they were sent to a remote camp in the eastern BC. In February 1942, the Canadian government issued an order calling for the removal of all Japanese families from the West Coast for "national security".
