The tunnel in the Netherlands was originally known as Hudson River Vehicle Tunnel or Canal Street Tunnel. After the sudden death of 1924, before the tunnel opened, it was renamed the Dutch tunnel to commemorate the chief engineer Clifford Milburn Holland. The Dutch tunnel is the world's first mechanical ventilation tunnel and the ventilation system was designed by Ole Singstad, who oversees tunnel completion. The tunnel in the Netherlands is managed by New York Port Authority and New Jersey. It is almost parallel to each other and consists of a tube of 29.5 feet (9.0 m) in diameter, 15 feet (4.6 m) below the Hudson River. The outside of each tube is made up of a series of cast iron rings. These rings themselves are made up of 14 curved steel pieces each measuring 6 feet (1.8 m) in length. Meanwhile, the steel ring is covered with a 19-inch (48 cm) thick concrete layer.

The tunnel in the Netherlands is the tunnel of the car under the Hudson River. We connect Jersey City, New Jersey State New Jersey and Jersey City, New Jersey. Dutch tunnel is a complete pipeline within the New York metropolitan area and it is operated by New York and New Jersey Port Authority (PANYNJ). The entire tunnel is Interstate 78, one side of New Jersey is New Jersey Highway 139. For the first time in 1906, a plan for a fixed car across the Hudson River was set up. However, due to the difference, the planning process was extended until 1919 decided to build a tunnel under the river. Construction of the tunnel in the Netherlands began in 1920 and was held in 1927. When the Dutch tunnel was opened it was the longest continuous underwater vehicle tunnel in the world. The Netherlands tunnel is one of three intersections between Manhattan and New Jersey and the other is Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge.
