Brain Transplant

Brain transplantation medical technology seems to have developed enough to enable doctors to perform brain transplant. So far, this procedure has been successfully completed only for animals, and now doctors want to do this for human beings. I do not think brain transplants should be undertaken, especially if human transplants should not be done due to many problems and side effects. Brain transplantation can be done well in animals, but that does not mean it will succeed humans.

Since British philosopher David Wiggins transplanted the two hemispheres of the brain into two different bodies, examples of brain transplantation have been widely debated since the 1970s. Here we assume that the two people after transplant are psychologically sticking to the person who existed before. Since they are different from each other, neither can be the same as the original one. However, they do not seem to have the function to make the original person the same as him, not with other people. Since this "split" case seems to constitute an example of psychological continuity without personal identity, they are seen as a challenge to a psychological point of view.

Many of modern personal identity psychology believe people are material. As already mentioned, the example of Rock 's soul relocation has been replaced by an example of brain transplantation in the 20th century. The idea is that recipients of brain transplantation can be expected to have psychological records related to the donor's past life and memory related to the psychological record of the donor before transplantation. The recipient will think he is a donor - and according to the psychological point of view, others should think so. In addition to the possibility of attracting brain grafts, some theorists also envision "remote transmission" devices that move people by sending information about their neural state from one place to another.
