Bobbie Ann Mason

Bobby Ann Mason was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on May 1, 1940. She is the oldest daughter among the four brothers of Wilburn Arnett Mason and Christianna Lee Mason. She grew up in a family dairy farm outside of Mayfield. She had an intimate relationship with her family and farm in the early days and later formed a theme with her short story. When she grew up on the farm she was attended by nature and attracted attention to the details of her body. After moving from a small country school to Mayfield High School she was influenced by "cultural shock" and "price" between country people and citizens.
