Black History Month Celebrated: Week 2 Roundup

We successfully completed the second week of the Black History Month # Visualize diversity program. And the support for the entire community is very big. This week, Cole Nahrick challenged to create educational-focused visualization using color and text. From the highlight of the educational gap to the historical black university and university insight, the visual effect created is amazing (HBCU).

This week, Mike Cisneros did a wonderful job highlighting the quality of the dollar per semester at two authoritative HBCUs, Sperman University and Howard University. Using color, text, memo, Mike compares the educational quality of these institutions with other US educational institutions.

Many people who joined this week's #SWD challenge provided comments on the creation of their visualizations in addition to the publication of images and links. We will focus on women's political participation in the third week. Viz for Social Good of Chloe Tseng cooperates with citizen technology organization Pollicy in Kampala, Uganda. Participants encourage participants to create visualizations to celebrate women's achievements and emphasize opportunities that may enhance political diversity. Details are on the following link.

Since 1976, in February every year the United States celebrated the Black History Month. The origin of this celebration can be traced back to "Black History Week" invented by African American historian Carter · Woodson in 1926. It takes a month to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions of the Negro to this country, which is a wonderful tradition. This year, in 2018 we encourage you to use the Black History Month as a way to celebrate, promote and support the practice of the black community throughout the year. This is an idea that you can do in February and every other year.

Black History Month: The Black History Month celebration began in 1926 with the Black History Week founded by famous African American historians, scholars, educators and publishers Carter Woodson.
