Biology 1406 Lab Report 1: pH, biomolecules known / unknown Test name: Ashley Gutierrez Lab Coach: Krista Johnson Objective: The purpose of this exercise is to test the existence of these biomolecules in known and unknown substances. When it is a biomolecule, we must find out an unknown substance. When an unknown substance is tested to find if the weather is good or bad then the presentation of that compound will be negative. Materials: • 24 tubes • Hot plate • Brown paper bag • Pipette • Chub black • Biuret • Iodine I 2 KI • Oil • Benedict • Sudan IV • Unknown liquid • Beaker • Boiling water • Distilled water Method / Procedure: A. Starch - iodide test 1) Place all the dropper of the liquid to be tested in a clean and dry test tube. 2) Add 3 drops of iodine (I 2 KI) solution to the liquid in the test tube. 3) Lightly shake the tube side.
